Isn’t it nice to have an extra $2,000 per month? That’s what Denver restaurant owner Stephanie Bonin has to say about it. For the past two years, Bonin has been campaigning for $2,000 monthly stimulus checks for all Americans through a Change.org petition. According to CNBC, this petition has just passed 3 million signatures.
“We just need certainty,” I believe 3 million people are saying. Month after month, we need something to look forward to “CNBC was informed by Bonin.
“Unfortunately, things aren’t getting any better for our country. Unemployment among low-wage workers is estimated at over 20 percent, and many Americans are still struggling to pay off large debts accrued in previous years for things like utilities, rent, and child care. It’s time for Congress to learn from the mistakes of the past year so that checks can be targeted to those who are still struggling “Bonin submitted a letter as part of the online petition.
Do we now have some solace? There are some encouraging developments, but there are also some concerning ones.

Only Relief In Sight Coming From The IRS
Is there any hope for the typical American family? The American Rescue Plan bill increased the tax credit for the 2021 tax year from $2,000 to $3,000, but this expired in the following year. From July to December, the first half of the tax credit was paid out in monthly installments of $300 for children under the age of six. Monthly payment of $250 was made to families with children ranging in age from six to seventeen. Families will receive the remaining half when they file their 2021 tax returns in the coming spring.
As a result, families with children can expect a financial windfall. However, the IRS has already said to expect delays, so you should be concerned that any remaining 2022 tax credit payments will arrive as a tax refund.

If you’re retired or don’t have kids, what’s the point? Are you stranded in the midst of soaring costs? Because so many programs have shut down, your options are significantly fewer right now. The best thing we can do is sign this petition and tell our elected officials that we need more assistance during this difficult time.
